Women have been and are targets of violence, discrimination and abuse in Iran for decades. On September 16, Mahsa Amini, a 22 year-old woman was killed by Iran’s “morality police” for “incorrectly wearing the hijab.” “No women should be murdered or arrested for what she wears (Global Citizen, 2022).” Over 133 people have died as a result of the ongoing protests, and internet blackouts have made it difficult for people in Iran to share their stories and talk about the crimes of the “morality police”.
Please reach out to your MPs and ask them to support women’s rights in Iran. Join protests 🪧, and share important information on social media.
